15-8294 Bill 21
An Ordinance Relating to city responses to people who are homeless living outdoors and setting standards and procedures for remedying unsafe conditions and protecting the rights and property of homeless individuals living on public property.
Requests to have Allentown designate space for camping on a “temporary” basis are ill advised. It will not be “temporary”. Public safety and health would be negatively impacted, causing law abiding and tax paying residents to flee the City. Individuals needing housing help should connect to services to obtain safe and livable housing, others who prefer the outdoors should find them where they exist. The City’s budget is already strained, use of funds to new unproductive initiatives is unwise.
