15-3754 Bill 61 Refer to Public Safety
Amending the 2020 General Fund Budget to provide for a supplemental appropriation of One Hundred Twelve Thousand Five Hundred Twenty-Three ($112,523) Dollars from the United States Department of Justice through the Emergency Supplemental Funding program known as the CARES Act to the City of Allentown for COVID-19 related purchases.
I oppose additional funding to APD. Emergency services funding through CARES act should be directed to agencies that provide social welfare services for housing emergency, food access, or education.

I have to say I was not surprised to see yet another grant being awarded to the APD
Does the city have grant writers that actively seek out funding to better the community and its residents?
What COVID expenses did the city incur that were used on premium pay, equipment, ops materials & supplies & uniforms?
Since $162,523 has been awarded to APD, will Council reinvest funding from the city budget back into the community?
