Public Safety: Chair Affa, Hendricks, Zucal The Committee met this evening. We are going to schedule a meeting on March 8th at 6 PM. I am planning to systematically look at quality of life issues that many of our resident's face day in and day out in the city. There are some moments when I think we are becoming too preoccupied with the grand issues like trying to solve the housing crisis and dealing with all types of social problems, while forgetting quality-of-life issues. This list includes unruly neighbors, trash, noise, parking issues, public nuisance establishments, vacant lots, loud parties, property maintenance issues, bikes, transience, and public health issues. The plan is to invite individuals from neighborhoods with an aim to take testimony, create a list of issues that need to be dealt with relating to quality-of-life concerns, examine current legislation, review the city's effort to deal with the issues, and look at tracking the city's response to these issues to achieve more accountability. In addition, I would like representatives from agencies that deal with quality-of-life issues: police, public works, and community and economic development department to be available and spell out the lanes we have for dealing with these issues. , Public Works: Chair Zucal, Santos, Hendricks The Committee has not met since the last council meeting; the next meeting is scheduled for March 1 at 6:15 PM to review Bill 10, which is being introduced this evening - a street dedication for John Snyder, former Little League President of the East Side Memorial Little League.
